There are quite a few very in depth books on invertibrates, but I've not found any on fish taxonomy, care, locations in the wild, etc. I want something that is textbook in nature. any suggestions?

I've got alot of textbook-style fish books at home myself, but they all lack "detailed care" or "how it is in captivity" listing for each individual species, besides the usual "eats this" "rated a 4/5 for survivabilty/aggresion".

But if you're looking for generalized info:

A PocketExpert Guide to Marine Fishes: 500+ Essential-To-Know Aquarium Species

It's a very handy book, but at the same time, not very detailed.

You really to use 2 or 3 books to get the amount of info you probably want.

IMO, these are the top books for listing indivdual species of fish(sorry but it's a series of books, not all in one):

I has nothing to do with price. I more or less just posted that so one can see all the books. I get all mine through Amazon. All those books at SeaChallengers can be found on Amazon
