I am looking for a good moonlight. I have tried the DIY ones and the odyssea ones. (both crap) Any suggestions?

i bought 2 twelve inch LED lights in walmart's automotive
department and they seem to work pretty good on my 55g
i had to wire them into a 12v transformer

I bought some from digikits.com. I had one set that failed after a year and contacted them the replaced them free of charge and they work great.

Yes it was the closed glass tube ones. Mine were not submersed.

I made some before but the connections on the LEDS and resistors rusted in no time. I guess you could coat them in silicon chalk. (messy)

Nope you need a hot melt glue gun.:) You said resistors plural did you wire them with a resistor for each led?

Go to Home Depot and buy the LED rope light, it comes in blue, it is water proof and 110v. Configure it in your hood, put it on a timer and your good to go for about $15.00.
