ok like the topic says i got copper for my qt tank but im not sure if i need it

i think my clown trigger has lymphs just on its tail (im sure of it

it looks like its growing off of him but im not sure

my salinity level in my qt tank is now about 1.011 and im sure cause im using a refrac

all the ich is visably gone

today i did go out and buy some freeze dried krill, some medicated food for bacteria for internal and external parasites, and i also got some coppersafe, that im wondering if i really need or not cause it dosent say anything about the copper being good for lymphs

i just herd that vitamin rich foods was good for the lymphs

so will krill and the medicated food dipped in a garlic extract be good????

thanks in advance guys, and gals!!!

trillyen,
Be sure you do not use the copper along with hyposalinity, I have heard it is a deadly combination.

From what I have read lymphocyctis is caused by stress. As this is a new fish the stress was likely from capture, shipping and then moving to your tank. Make sure the fish is not stressed-low light in the QT, place the QT in an area that is not high traffic in the house and then feed a healthy diet enriched with vitamins. I think a copper treatment would just add stress to this fish and would not help with the lymph.

I just responded to your other thread on this clown trigger. Zoe by Kent Marine is what I use for vitamins. It is a liquid that can be added to any food or directly to the water. From my experience this will go away quickly with good water, low stress and vitamins. It took me awhile to treat my angel correctly, I thought ich at first so started hypo with no improvement, once I figured out it was the lymphocyctis and started increasing the vitamins the fish was better in a week!

thats what im gonna do im just trying to get him better before the big move cause im moving soon and i gotta move everything

and i dont wanna mess with him or her while its sick

the only thing thats wrong with the fish now is the lymphs on the tail

hey if my salinity level drops below 1.009 will that hurt my fish

thanks ahead of time

oh and i seen your response to my other add thank you!!!

I do not know if below 1.009 will hurt, but it is the low side of the range so if it were me I would try to get it back up slowly if it is below that.

Did the trigger ever have ich? If not, I would think you might want to slowly raise the salinity up to 1.015-1.016 which is a low stress level for fish (something about them not having to work so hard to maintain the proper salt level in thier system). But if it had ich continue the hypo treatment for the full course (4-6 weeks after the last ich spot was seen).

Hey Trillyen,
No, 1.009 will not hurt your fish. However you will need to keep an eye on PH as it will drop to low levels at that salinity because the water doesn't have enough buffer to maintain it. If you are talking about lymphosystis... this is a virus that will normally go away with good water quality and low stress levels. I you have signs of parasites AKA cryptocaryan you will want to keep your salinity at 1.009 for at least 4 weeks. You will find many good article's here on hypo-salinity if you search for them.
A PICTURE WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU CAN GET IT!
A specific diagnosis can make things allot easier.

im sure my trig has the lymphs i looked up pics already

my salinity isnt below 1.009 but i was just wondering if my refrac metyer was off a lil if it was ok

i think its right on though cause i adjusted it with fresh water

thanks alot for the help

and im taking my copper back!!!
