Ive read a few threads about chiller pumps failing lately so I decided to prevent a melt down. Flow switches are expensive so here is what I came up with. It even works.
Is that a float valve installed in there? How long does it take before it clicks off?
I imagine that could be used on just about ANY pump. In case a sump runs too low or if a pump prefilter gets too clogged, etc... your pump will not run needlessly.
Yes just a float. It works with any pump that drains back, like a chiller or return pump. Wont work with something like a closed loop. Takes about 10 seconds to turn off since it doesnt hold much in the the way of water. The float displaces most, its a 1" float in 1.5" caps.
