Here is a side by side growth shot. It took two years to get to the first point and the second is an additional 30 days growth. Nothing changed except the coral feeding.

Very Nice growth Don what kind of Acropora is it? I see its mounted on what looks like the side of your tank how close to the Bulb Light is it?
Very nice pictures.

XM 20K's

Cool another Guy who like his light on the Blue side ;)
I have used 20K XMs in the Past and I did like them. However I got a very good deal on a 6 pack of 14 K Hamiltons so gonna use them up before going Back again.
Don thats great growth @ 20" under the water with 250 watts congrats...Jeff

Fuzzy stick, 20" under xm20k 250w

Good job Don! What, when, how, and how much you feeding them.

This is disgusting stuff. 1 tsp oyster meat in 100ml of rodi water completely liquified with 125mg gln. Thats enough to turn 150g milky white and blow the top off the skimmer, so I need to turn it off for 30 minutes. Tank is completely clear within that 30 minutes. Causes what may be a feeding frenzy. I would assume its feeding because the tank clears so quickly with no filtration or carbon. Seems to be working, I'm going to boost the gln in 30 more days.

Hey Don....nice shots! I have never heard of using glutamine to feed corals with. Is this the same stuff you buy a supplement stores???

:) GLN is the three letter code for glutamine.

Don,

I'm also interested in where/what you are getting the GLN.

Also, are you adding all of this liquified nasty at one time, or does this make several days worth? Are you using the Jar Oysters... or trying to do fresh right now? How do your fish react when you feed this to your tank? Is the GLN to semi-solidify the blended oyster, or is it adding something you feel the corals require?

I know... I know... questions questions questions... sorry. I'm just VERY impressed with that growth!!! :D

I'm using jar oysters because they are cheap and easy. The reaction difference in fresh and frozen is quite different. The frozen doesnt seem to produce quite the same reaction from the coral and will cloud the tank for a longer period of time.
1 tsp of oysters meat mixed in 100 ml of rodi water is one feeding, it turns to liquid in my little blender real quick.
The GLN is a experiment in response to asking my dad about hGH. He quickly tossed aside the theory that hGH actually makes the coral grow but probably changes the aminos. Since there is no possible way for it to work like it does in humans I'm play with the way it might affect bacteria, nitrogen and protein the same way it effects human skin rather than muscles and bones.

As far as the where to get it. Most health food places will have pure or what they call pure GLN. I'm using the stuff that uses diatary phosphate as the carrier rather than sugar or yeast. I'm disolving the GLN prior to blending the oyster.
I'm pretty sure that there is no way for this to hurt anyones tank. I would add that the feeding amount and dosage should probably be adjusted down for what I would consider a lower powered tank. As of yet it has not caused any algae bloom or neg impact on the clams, snails or urchins. It has helped in healing a large deformed cup coral that Ive had for three years. This coral was missing a large section of flesh that remained unchanged for three years and has now filled in at least 1/3 of the missing section within the last 30 days.

I dont understand the science behind hGH and amino's so I cant answer any real technical questions. At this time I dont think its to cool to bug the old man with this, but will hit him up with a few questions as time goes on. So for now we'll just call it a experiment.:)

Don this is VERY interesting! I think starting next week I will give this system a try. I have a 65 gallon so I am thinking I will cut your doseage in half and see what effects it has on some sps frags I have.

I'd start at a 1/4 dose and dont forget to shut down your skimmer. I wasnt joking about blowing the lid off. Oysters are almost all protein, you want to find balance that your tank can metabolize quickly.
Forgot, watch ca and alk. If it causes a growth spirt like it did in my tank alk and ca will take a hit but more so alk.
