had my first jumper

my eclipse hogfish decided to jump out of the take about 15mins ago
what can i use to cover the tank to keep this from happening again

and could something be wrong with him he has never done this before

That's good to hear. Eggcrate will keep bigger fish in but for smaller fish you probably need window screen.

Go to Lowes if you have one and they are with the suspended ceiling stuff. It is called lighting diffuser for suspended ceiling lights. Not sure where Home Depot keeps it but if you ask for suspended ceiling light diffuser they should be able to get you there.

I woulnt cover the tank if its a reef tank, it cuts the lighting back to far. Fish sometimes jump because there is something wrong with the fish or knat or something was buzzing around the surface. I think if its a real problem he may need a bigger or different tank.
We get mayflys in the summer when the kids leave the doors open and my sailfin will snatch them but luckily has never landed on the floor.

i think that might have been it my brother and sister like to keep all the windows open
