hey all

I am going to be taking a trip to some where warm in march and I wanted to see if anyone had any idea on the legalities of harvesting my own fish.

I know its a long shot but I think it would be great if i was able to bring a couple home with me.

I know about the quarintne issues before I put themi n my tank but I want to make sure if I do actuall catch a couple that i will actually be able tp bring them back with me.

Any thoughts?

I think it all matters where your getting them from. I know Hawaii all you need is a fishing licn. To collect fish but I would look up the regs on where your going.

I am going to Punta Cana in the Dominican if anyone has any info or where I could start looking please let me know

I saw a post for a member that just joined, PEPETJ, I think he is from Santo Domingo if that helps you out at all?

I'm pretty sure you can take lion fish without any permits. They are trying to eradicate them in parts of the Caribbean.

I would check with the US Customs office and US Wildlife and Fisheries for the importation regulations. You also need to check on collecting and exporting regulations of the country where you will be doing the collecting.

we are going straight from Canada to punta cana so I don't know. i will check in Canada and I will check there.

I woudl love a lion but I am not going to try and catch one of them lol ouch....

Has anyone ever tried to do what I am doing
