Healthy?

How come my clam's mantle extends so much does that mean it's not getting enough light or he is unhealthy? I have only had him for a couple of months I placed him on this rock and he turned himself once and then stayed there.

Looks like a happy clam to me. The white new shell in the first pic shows that it is growing too.

Ok thanks! I was just worried because this is my first clam and I just don't remember seeing clams in the store extend the mantle out that far.

I thought extended mantles like that meant they are trying to gather more light. Is this incorrect then?

wat lighting? wat size tank? Wat flow? Maybe its just the flow thats "puffing" his mantle up like that...dose he open enough to where u can see the siphon and the intake part? It looks healthy to me too but im no expert, fairly new to clams myself.hthsd

croceas naturally have really long mantle extension mine stretches out that far too!! looks happy and healthy to me!
