Who here has their reflectors directly mounted to the wood canopy & how hot does it get? I was playing around with ideas on how to mount the new reflectors I got & first thing I noticed was the heat from the reflector that was screwed directly to the wood. To me this can't be good as eventually In time the heat would dry out the wood excessively & may burn it or something of that sorts? What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks!

I really doubt it would catch fire. If your not comfortable just use a few washers to create an air gap.

I have 2 175watt hallides running on my 55g. both of the reflectors are mounted straight to the wood. I havent had any problems so u should be fine.
