My tank is located in a room with a pretty good sized window that gets full sun in the late afternoon to evening. The tank doesn't get any direct light, but the room heats up pretty good. I've been thinking about getting a window/glass film that is supposed to cut down heat from the sun by up to 70%. Does anyone tried this stuff? Does it really work?

Yes it does work. Its the same thing as car window tint. It inhibits in-car temps rising by blocking sunlight from entering. The darker the tint, the less light entering the car, the less heat. Ever sat in a car in the sun with tinted windows as compared to another without? Think of it that way.

roller shades that block light/uv are my choice.... now you see them, no you don't. The tint is on all the time, and with my house I don't want to block the view when I don't have to. Also, I WANT solar gain in the winter.

Shades cost a lot less than the (right stuff) window tint as well.

Let us know what you do, and how it turns out. D
