I am not all that partial to the stores, you will find much better quality & prices from people selling stuff on here :) If you are ever out this way though there are a couple of good ones. Good luck!

Welcome to Reef Frontiers.

There are several good stores in the area that have quality corals, fish and advise.
You will have a little bit of a drive to the good ones, but it's always worth it.

Welcome and sort of. You could go collect your own out of the sound or purchase from the Seattle Aquarium in downtown for .05 per gallon. That's a ways away from you though being in Oak Harbor.

in san diego they have free salt water do they have anything like that in seattle wa area?

Hope your move goes okay. I'd recommend keeping your live rock as it's pretty spendy up here.

Island Pet is a good place to go because it's local. They can/will special order almost anything you want. The gas money you spend to go off the Island makes up for it. In August, they along with what seems every other LFS in the area has anniversy sales. Island pet has all their fish at 50% off.

Bellingham ~ 1hour drive has a Saltwater/pet store that is really good from people on base that live up in that area.

I visit ARSA often as Rob gets in really good looking fish and is fair on his pricing. ARSA is in Shoreline ~ 1.5 hour drive from Oak Harbor

Barrier Reef is another awsome LFS that I don't tend to visit often due to the distance. They are in Renton ~ 2 hour drive from Oak Harbor (If traffic is on your side.)

Another option to selling all your livestock would be to ship it up to one of the numerous members/reef keepers in the Oak Harbor area to see if they would house it for you until you get up here and get settled in.

The plus side to reef keeping in the Puget Sound over California is that there is only a couple of weeks out of the year where it get really hot :)

The water on the Island is a Reefer's dream as it's high in mag/cal/alk. It's premium water. There are several places that sell/give away RO and RO/DI water on the main land.

Welcome to Reef Frontiers. Have a safe trip to Washington! It should be a really good summer as the winter was unusually mild this year.

straight from the tap or do i have to hook up a rodi unit to it? i have one the water here in lemoore sucks...thanks for all the info... i wanted to start over with my tank its a nice setup and nice livestock choice i just want to get fish that are not going to out grow my tank..

I'd run an RO/DI to make sure you are putting pure water in your system. Tap water can lead to disaster over the long run down the road. Through irresponsible management of $$$ the city of Oak Harbor had to close their water treatment plant and their sewer plant and now it all gets piped from & to Anacortes.

It was mostly the well water that I was talking about that is from the county folk :D You would still probably want to run the water through at least an RO unit prior to putting it into a reef tank.

I heard you have to sign a health waiver to live in Lemoore from all the spraying they do down there. I don't think water anywhere in CA is very good anymore.

What kind of fish do you have that's going to out grow a 225? :D

Welcome to RF! Just looking at your lighting set up. What do you think of 12k with the actenics? I'm running 4X65W power compact actenics, and was debating between 10k and 12k bulbs. Ended up going 10k because I'm buying cheap lights and thought I'd get better PAR rating

well just mainly my tangs they are getting really big i have a few that are 6" already and i only had them for 2 years

i was planning on using my ro/di unit anyways..

no we didnt have to sign a health waiver to be here...i just get automatic 10% disability for the air quality and water

we get quarterly statements from the base saying the water fail to pass. we have been getting that since ive been here for the past 6 years

im starting over because it would be hard for me to transport my corals and fish up there and i dont know when im gonna be able to set everything back up. im definitely not getting out of this hobby i enjoy it way to much and the good thing is that my wife enjoys it too unlike my other hobbies lol

wish my wife liked my tank... :(

are you sure you want to let everything die.. its not to hard to keep some stuff alive... yo can always just have a 10g "life" tank... keep some of your bacteria alive keep something from your old setup alive.

its cool to watch old stuff thrive in a new environment

im going to have the rock in 40g tubs with a heater and water pump in the car with us going up there to keep that alive
