stuck open mouth i think parisite so i put very minimal amount of rid ich in quorantine tank and sallinity of 1.017

Did you ensure the PH and temp were the same as the tank water? Either way, best to put back in tank until you read up a bit more first

Stuck open mouth would not sound like a parasite. Injury, obstruction, dietary deficiency, poor water parameters and others would be more likely suspect.

Rid ich is worthless. Read up on ich including it's symptoms and how to treat. Never treat with chemicals unless you are 100% sure of the disease you are treating

My bet with insufficient info is that it is either poor water or food, or the possibility that it got stung by a coral, anemone, or other critter.

Please list all your water measurements and tank inhabitants

see i thought something more like that till i looked into what was on reef land forums and others starting over live had him for four years lost the female 8 months ago to a carpet suicide. when i tried pairing him a two days ago it seem to take all day they were fine till morning when mysteriously the new clown was dead and his mouth was stuck open but no nicked fins on either or any signs of a fight

and my spelling is poor and incomplete because my hands are in the tank right now but on the other forums ive never seen a solution or end result to their hypothesis's so i figured try my own but four year and no injury to this guy by me yet fingers crossed but hes in the tank now and its a hundred twenty gal system with some sps no other fish lots of inverts an anemone thats been splitting into two for two weeks and others

Stuck open mouth is most often seen in either poor water or from injury due to trauma or being stung. Have you tested your water numbers? Did the clowns fight? If so, most likely it's mouth was injured and will heal if the water and nutrition is good.

I'm having trouble putting this together, so apologies if these questions have been answered already.

What species of clown? Was it wild caught? How long did you have it (did I read 4 years)? How long did you have the other clown with it? How long has its mouth been stuck open? You were trying to treat with rid-ich (which doesn't work, IMO), did you happen to see any ich on the fish, or were you just trying anything for the mouth condition? Is the fish able to eat?

Are you looking for a solution to ich? There is alot of information in Lee's forum about ich facts, and treatment options.

In one post was written that the mouth was stuck open after death? Was it stuck open before death?

I appreciate not being a typist or writer, but some of your posts are hard to follow for me.

What is currently wrong with the fish? List all symptoms. What specifically do you want help with?
