I may be overreacting, but since last night I notice 2 separations between the silicone and the glass on the upper right corner of the tank. These were not there yesterday. They are wide enough to slip a piece of paper in. They are .09" deep. Deep meaning from the right side of the glass to the left edge of the separation. I put marks using a sharpie to outline the gaps.

This is the top of that corner. One side is .07" higher than the other side. This makes me wonder if there is an unusually large gap at the bottom too. Assuming that the sides are all cut square there my be some uneven forces on this corner.

Looking at your pics your water looks pretty cloudy so I'm guessing this is a very new tank. If that's the case you need to get in touch with the shop that sold you the tank and get these pics to them. This is a defect that should be replaced under warranty. I would drain that tank immediately so that you don't wake up to a wet floor.

If this isn't a new tank, you still need to drain it. Once that's done you can reseal the tank yourself, if you think you're up to it, or have a pro reseal it. It looks like you'll need to remove the front and right side panel to ensure that the seams are properly aligned.

Thanks Mike.

The tank it new. It's about 2 weeks old.

I have a 55 gallon tank that I can borrow temporarily. I don't have an way to put it on a stand though so the sump can't be used. And, I am going to be out of town for a while so hopefully with a light, heater and a pump the liverock will live until I get a new tank.

If all you have is the LR that should work fine, I agree you need to drain that and get it replaces being so new.

A heater and powerhead will keep everything ticking while you're away but I would probably run a slightly lower temp and no light to reduce the amount of evaporation. If you have a way to top off the 55 while you're away disregard this and simply run your current temp and photoperiod.

I talked to the store that I bought it from (Sierra Pets in Renton) and they're going to order a replacement. They are really great people to deal with!

good to hear. the oceanic support team is great as well. i ordered a glass top for my illuminata that was missing a few clips. both oceanic and the distributor at denny's pet world mailed me some immediately. That uneven glass would drive me nuts, glad to see you're getting a replacement. You will love the tank.

I looked at my illuminata tank and the glass is slightly off on the top but not near as drastic as yours. If the gaps are growing i would beware. Mines been up and running for 4+ years now and i have non of those problems, except the chip i put in mine where i smacked it with a glass water pitcher. OOPS
