I am trying to help a local high school's marine biology class set up a reef tank. The school has made a few attemps at setting up a cold water tank for local species but has not had to much luck. If thier is anyone out thier that would like to donate some time or some stuff that would be great.
They already have a nice tank, with built in heater and chiller and it uses a bioball system for filtration. The lighting is just a single NO bulb.
Here is what I was thinking:
>Since its a biology class I think we should go for a lot of divercity and microrganisms. So DSB with some LR and a number of softies will be the eventual goal.
>For lighting I would say vho or t5 or power compacts would be great. So if any one has some stuff laying around or would like to donate please let me know.
> also LR, I have some, but could use a little more.
>Live sand, Mine has been in the backyard for a couple of years now,but I do have a bag left from the Plenum experiment
>Once the cycle is done I will put a call out for some softies clippings.
here are a couple of pics of the tank
