I have a new 300gal that is 94x27x30 and need help with closed loop. I have a amp 4700 for the closed loop and a amp 2100 for return from the sump. I also just bought a MBV for the closed loop. Any thoughts? The tank has coast to coast overflow. Thanks Dave

That is going to be a nice size Dave. Are you planning on running a bare bottom setup? I am sure that you have looked @ Nikki's thread? http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2884 Mike and Nikki set that tank up pretty nicely imo. Is this going to be a SPS system? If so you may consider getting another big pump on the CL, it would be pretty hard for you to have too much flow in a tank of that size. As far as tips I would recommend using SCH 80 bulkheads, while they are pricy they are worth it over the cheaper SCH40. Also use 2 45's in place of 1 90 whenever you can to keep the head pressure as low as possible. Another way to keep the headpressure down is to use the spa flex tubing in the runs going to your pump. This also helps to keep the vibration noise down a little. Good luck and post some drawings of how you want to setup the plumbing. Once you get some drawings online here we can help out with some tips. Another good thread to look at is this one from kimoyo. http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4901

Do I need to use 1 1/2 pvc up to the bulkheads. I have 3/4 bulkheads. Is it better to keep it 1 1/2 the whole way to the bulkhead or reduce it after the MBV? Would two amp 4700 be to much? Thanks for the help Tom!! Yes it is going to be sps tank upgrading from a 90g.

I used 1.5 " all the way up to 3/4" bulkheads on mine. I think this gives the manifold effect and helps keep the flow going well and even. I used 3/4" SCH 80 bulkheads, and it just so happens that a 1.25 to 1.5 threaded bushing screws onto the outside of that particular bulkehead. I used a little silicone to make the seal and then pushed on my manifold over the bushings. Here is a link to my little thread. http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2136

Have you looked into the Sequence pumps? checkout azponds I picked up the 4200 series 750 for a great price, salt seals and shipping was less than the cheapest retail

Sounds like a great tank - bit step from a 90 :)
