Anemone VS torch coral....the anemone keeps launching at my torch coral!! I used a small force powerhead to "blow" the anemone away but it keeps blowin up and diving mouth first at the torch!!

I just fed the bugger some krill...don't know if it went down wrong and its pissed or what..a small piece fell on its "plate" area not tentacles..its gone now..it sucked itself in and then it blew up and away from its corner....goin right after the torch..its been after the torch since day one...are these two destined to fight??

I don't know if it is a problem, my bubble tip just spent all day and night with his foot holding on to a cabbage coral I have. He is off now and I see no damage.

Anemones and corals don't mix really. While Sinularia's can be quite resiliant, they will eventually be permanently damaged and while "defending" themselves chemically, will end up damaging/killing/stressing several other inhabitants in the process. They really are quite a noxious beast. The Euphyllia will fair much worse. More commonly you will be looking at tissue necrosis/brown jelly infections, receding polyps and/or death.

What species of anemone and can you set up a species specific tank?

I found its a Long tentacle anemone..It's been trying to overcome the torch every so often..today was the first time it launched itself at it..whether accidentally or not...

They shared a corner..the anemone would put out a tentacle and the torch would put a tentacle out and push the anemone away I was so stunned to see it!!

The anemone is now calm and settled on the sand bed...the torch looks fine..its quite feisty...

With a seperate tank..I would need to move the clowns as well..I think they have started to try and host the anemone...and I don't really wanna move those..they are doin so well in the main tank....Would rather move/trade the coral...

Thanks for the info :)

We did we put him on one end he floated himself across the tank between rocks up over the back rock wall..1st time it met torch...we promptly moved the torch...the anemone moved to a back "cove" stayed there fora while..moved a bit stayed behind the torch's rock looked good..didnt really mess with the torch just put out a "feeler" every now and again..we palced the torch down..anemone spread out..then after it fed (this is week 2 of anemone-on the sun past) 2nd time feeding it..think it didnt like the krill that fell on its head-clown tried to bite lol and I dropped the piece....think maybe it was just mad??

Its settled down now back behind the torch's new rock bout 6in from torch in the sand..hopefully it will stay put now!!

This may be in your (and the anemones) best interest. I would not try moving the anemone elsewhere in the tank, it will just end up moving back again. If anything, temporarily relocate the coral until a permanent solution can be found. You will find that proximity will have alot to do with the immediate issues at hand but in the long term the problem may (will?) still exist, just not as easily noticed.
