hey yall my lady and i are gonna be going up to seattle this weekend just wanted to know how the aquarium was? and whats some good saltwater stores up there i see qt aquariums on google maps just wondering cause if im up there why not check them out :p.:D

Saltwater City in Bellevue.

i second that.

blue sierra also has some good stuff in their tanks, i am a fan of SW city a little bit more though.

the seattle aquarium is ok, i went back to it a last year and man it was sure cooler when i was a kid

they have a cool octopus tank, and a heavy emphasis on cold water marine life, which is fitting due to the local area. They had a very cool cuttlefish tank though. As far as reef fishes go, i don't think there is much to see.

The aquarium is worth your time for sure, its just not as big league as some of the other ones in the nation. the coolest room is the big dome viewing room though. I have been enjoying hanging out in there for something like 25 years.

Since going back as a reef addict i found my self wishing i could see some massive coral colonies and what not, but i guess they don't have the time or money for such things. Its too bad. I would love to visit a public aquarium that had giant reef tanks with 10 or so years of growth in them.

Oh and if you find your self up in the BC area for whatever reason, you have to stop by King Ed's Pets In New Westminster. They have a giant basement full of fresh/salt water stuff. It may be the most jam packed pet store i have ever seen. Like you have to turn sideways to move through the isles on the top floor. the whole thing is one giant fire trap.

When you are there, make sure you pause to drool over the 50 dollar blue acro mother colonies (you could get 50 frags off of some of these), and 89 dollar 60+ head acan colonies that you are not allowed to bring back past the border. However chemicals (and some fishes... good luck with that) are legal. I buy all my chemicals up there for next to nothing (7 bucks canadian for a 24oz bottle of tech M for example, 30 dollar Koralia 2 power heads) whenever i am up visiting the girl.
They have a couple display tanks that are just jammed with some amazing SPS corals. You need a CITES permit to bring them back, or you risk a 600 dollar fine and loss of livestock at the border. I am in process right now for a CITES application.

Please check out Seattle's only true saltwater and reef store.

We are located in North Seattle right off I-5 (about a half mile from the exit very easy to find)

check us out on www.yelp.com

Barrier is the best store in the Puget Sound and the best store in Renton, but Seattle hum...
