Hi forum, :usa2:

My name is Kovy, I just signed up here at Reef Frontiers and I have no doubt I will enjoy this forum greatly. I was referred here by Bill Wann's thread, after reading his build I was blown away. My reefing experience has been amazing. I have worked with Dave from Vivid Aquariums and enjoyed every day of it. Im currently planning a large tank for my home with a fish room for filtration. Everything is in early stages and I have ways to go before I have a fully functioning reef tank, so I will be sharing my plans here soon.

Welcome to RF!! :welcome:. Looking forward to your build! Make sure and post some pics as you put it together. :)

Thanks everyone, Im very happy to be here. I currently don't have any tanks set up, I don't have time for my old tanks. I have been tank-less for a few months now, and I am eagerly waiting to set up my new tank. I have been overloaded with school and work recently so there has not been work on the fish room done in too long. I need to make a trip out to Lowes in the near future and finish up the fish room so I can start designing the filtration. The DT is not going to be too big, probably somewhere between 180-300G. Dave will help me pick an appropriate size.

The DT will be in the living room, and i'll plump the tank through the hardwood flooring to the basement utility room (aka the fish room). Im going to implement an automatic water change system and use a large sump, media reactors and a Deltec skimmer for my main filtration. Right now Im researching monitors and transmitters to use throughout the system, so I can precisely monitor things like flow rates, conductivity and pH. I am also looking into options to further control the electrical throughout the fish room, but I have found most of the equipment to be too advanced for me to set up on my own. I may end up using an aquarium controller like the DA ReefKeeper Elite or NS APEX.

For flow, I'm going to use the ReeFlo Hammerhead and possibly a closed loop with a smaller pump like a ReeFlo Dart. I was also fortunate enough to get an OM4-Way unit before the company shut down their manufacturing, so I will use that too.

LEDs are probably going to be the most expensive part of this build so I am waiting for my options to enlarge before I make the investment. (Im am leaning towards Radion).

I may have left out some information, if it comes to mind I will post it.

Thoughts, comments, ideas?

All the best, Kovy.

Kovy, as it goes with the build, we do require pictures as we are very snoopy. Please show your progress as it comes along, we love seeing people as they construct their aquariums. Good Luck

There is not much to show right now but I'll show you what I have so far. And as for the store, its amazing. The 800G DT is absolutely incredible!

Here are links to pics of the basement remodel as well as some old pics of the fish room before demolition. I will try and get some updated fish room pics soon. I am hosting the photos on my own website and when I use the photo URL insert button I get an "Invalid URL" error pop up. So for now, here are the links:

I like dealing with Vivid Aquarium, I got all of my live rock from them. Dave was very helpful and picked out great rock. He also told me about how he started in his business describing it as a hobby that got out of control. He's a really nice guy.

Wow, thanks for the pic. Thats a great room. Nice job.

Oh, go 300.
If you dont you will wish you did.

Go 300 for me man! LOL Also if ur not gonna use that deltec id be more than happy to oblige. :)Looks like a lot of work but itll pay off in the end and it looks good so far too. -d

Hi again,

My account (RapidFire) is having issues. I set a new password an I cannot log in. I reset the password twice and again it won't work. I made this account to tell you about the issue, but the staff can delete it once I gain access to my original account. Thanks.

I have heard Great things about VIvid. I hear it is the best store in SOcal. Is it worth the two hour drive?
