I have dealt with Vivid in the past and as far as I am concerned it is one of the most friendliest and knowledgeable stores there is, When I lived in Fontana, CA. it took me 1 to 2 hours ( depending on traffic to get there, but well worth it. Try it once I think you will like it.

I have heard Great things about VIvid. I hear it is the best store in SOcal. Is it worth the two hour drive?

People came from all over the state when I worked there. It is definitely worth the drive. Make sure you speak to Dave, he's literally an overflow (no pun intended) of reefing knowledge.

I always left in the late morning so never hit major traffic, but it usually took me about 1 hour to get there. I enjoyed every day working there and look foreword to returning next week.

So how is the build coming along? We want to see some progress here!

Not much progress yet. Next week I plan on ordering the tank and some more equipment. I only buy what I can afford, which is why the build is taking so long. I would rather wait and have the best equipment than rush and only get OK gear.

The size of the tank depends on were I put it.

Originally I wanted the tank in-wall, then moved the idea to the living room, and now Im thinking it makes the most sense to put it in the game room, adjacent to the fish room.

Putting it in the game room removes 11 feet of head height and saves me over 50 feet of plumbing.

But: I am faced with a challenge.

The front wall of the game room has a beautiful wall-to-wall cabinet. The opposite side of the room has the free space were I would put the tank, but

A: its not flat. its a trapezoid shape. Either I get a trap shaped tank (acrylic = more expensive) or I fit a rectangle tank in there loosing the space behind it.

B: How would I run the drains/return line?

I would have to put the drains either through the drywall or on it, which won't look too pretty. Then I have to put them through the wall. Not such a big deal, Ive got a hammer drill that can do some serious drilling but messy and permanent.

Any ideas? I'll draw a layout of the room soon.

Ok this was REALLY rough, but gives an overall idea. No measurements, and pretty much NOT to scale. Just a guide to show what Im dealing with.

Ok, some more info for you guys.

Floor to the ceiling is 7" (84").

My idea for the tank was 60"x30"24". (About 180G).

I need at least 12" for the canopy, which leaves me at:

20" Canopy
= 36"
24" Tank

40" Stand

= 84" (7')

What do you think?
