what kind of hinges would be best to resist rust for the stand doors???

Either stainless (no guarantee of the right kind) or lightly sprayed/wiped with oil.

I've never found any that doesn't rust or corrode over time. I just buy the ones from HD or Lowes and replace them every few years when they get nasty looking.

In stainless steel look for 316 stainless.

I was browsing around for acrylic products the other day and found some really nice looking acrylic hinges. I'd found them by googling "acrylic displays." Don't know how strong they'd be, but they wouldn't rust...lol. "Crystal Clear Hinges!!!" My stand has what look like polished brass hinges on it, similar to what you'd find at HD. I just checked them out and no rust at all on them. They've been in use for 2 years by me...who knows how long before then, as I bought the stand used, from another SW hobbiest

304 ss is the only ss that will not rust.

Go to West Marine, buy the hinges there...

I use different stainless steel rods at work and the only one that I have found that will not rust is 316.
