Very strange, I've had the fish since it was the size of a nickel (about 4 years). Seemed perfectly healthy, ate earlier this afternoon. Walked past the tank this evening and he or she was stuck between a couple rocks and not moving. There wasn't any signs of anything strange or any wounds on the fish. Everything else in the tank seems fine and is acting normal. Very strange =(

So disappointing when that happens and you don't know what happened to even try to avoid whatever next time. Hippos get really large and eventually out grow most tanks, unfortunately most die prematurely like most captive fish. It is very difficult to keep fish for their entire lifespan, that is the one thing I like to see more of commercial breeding rather than farm our natural reefs.

Sorry for the loss, you did well for 4 years it can be difficult as you get attached to your pets:(

Man thats to bad...... I had a lawnmower jump from my tank recently after having it for a year. Loved that fish, so I can feel for your loss. Sorry to ever hear about aa fish or coral dieing. Did you feed it the same food it has always had?

i had a pair of orange diamond gobies that I had for 3 yrs..one went missing and the other jumped out of the tank..(i believe was harassed by my passer angel (which is no longer in the tank)).

I was not happy when I saw this as one of them was at least 3-4 inches...

I was just thinking about this today while looking at my purple tang.
I would love to be able to breed and sell healthy fish.

Sorry for you loss man. I have been having problems with my hippo lately too.

Thanks everyone =) Pretty bummed, just wish I knew what happened more than anything.

Yea, same food as always. Pretty bummed, I've had my six line wrasse about the same amount of time. I think I'm going to ask at my lfs next time I'm down there were most of his fish come from. The captive bread and raised ones would probably much better off in the long run.
