Hitchiker on coral...what kind of coral is this and..

Could someone maybe help with this guy. I was at the lfs and wanted to purchase a coral, but this was attached and seem to be growing new babies. If I purchase, should I pull it off or do you think it will be ok?

I second the algae ID, if Nikki sees this thread she should be able to give you a name. I had it in my tank for a while it eventually died off

Man...I'm pretty sure I've seen something similar to that around here. If I go out tomorrow at low tide, I'll shoot some photos. It would be cool if it is the same thing and is a good thing

piscina, or something like that, i had huge clumps then it unforunatly died to cyano, it's a good algae

yeah i wish i had that type of algae growning on my tank instead of the ugly looking one

Gabby's got it...Padina. I'd just pull it off. I had some in my tank early on in its life, and it eventually died back on its own. Kind of an interesting looking algae.

I've been watching a couple of colonies for awhile in the lfs, and now that I know it's a good thing, I feel more comfortable purchasing.
