Sooo...I did some aquascaping over the holiday (looks pretty good). Built an auto top-off (working like a champ). Fragged some mushrooms. I experimented with wedding vail as a means of getting the severed heads (haha) to re-attach. I cut two mushrooms off and vailed them around the same rock. Mushroom #1 shrunk to almost nothing, but appears to be healthy. The stump still has color and looks like it will regenerate. Mushroom #2 went nuclear. It exploded with orange goo and then disintigrated into a white crusty substance. The stump as well withered away. So, two mushrooms on the same rock had total opposite results. Crazy. My only option now is to buy a bigger tank and metal halides. At least that will be the rationale to the wife. I think that I'll stick to hermit crab races for a while and not be so eager to frag things.
 
I think a 300 gallon starphire tank should work. just be sure to add at least 3 400 watt halides, around 4 t5 actinics, about 6 tunzes with the controllers and you should be able to frag just about anything. dont forget the 6 foot skimmer with a 24 " base......:D
 
I'll put it on my Christmas list for next year. Have any of you guys ever experienced this nuclear mushroom scenario?
 
Where are we building the skimmer? What shrooms did ya cut?? They are usaully prety tough. Ben while I have you here I will hijack this - I have time off from the 4-10 this month. what is a good day that Steve and I might steal you for a coral road trip and maybe check out the farmer by you and Steve knows of a few more stores???
 
I don't think that I have anything planned for this weekend (6th) if you'd like to take a road trip. I'm in. The coral guy has Saturday hours from 12-6. Let me know if that works for you. I also scored this Favia brain last week. Say the word and we'll throw it on the wet saw next meeting. haha.
 
How about a weekday? I can probably do a half day on the 8th or the 9th.
 
Will have to see what Steves schedual is like and when I have to fix the little ones car - all depends on when parts show up. Right now seems OK to me
 
I am good for those days lets pick monday?? if that is a day the farmer is open. I am off to VA in an hour so won't be checking till sunday.
 
I'll take a half day on Monday. I'll call the farmer guy today and make sure he'll be in the shop.
 
So what time at your house Ben?? Steve we should leave bout 1hr 15min before so we don't have to rush - leave from my house??
