Been inspecting it and don't see exactly what part you stick in the water.
(Sometimes I am dumb and sometimes I am dumber)

Hey Deb, as a rule of thump, most of the TDS meters made for this hobby aren't accurate enough to really be concerned with, when It comes to getting readings. Here is the basic way I do mine, Out the box they are factory set & usually as good as you'll get it, I have a little hand held unit, at the bottom the cap slides off & there is a water line, I basically dip it in water to that line with the little switch up top on & get some reading. If it is a TDS in-line to the RO/DI unit when water flows through it you will get a reading, before & after the unit TDS. Typically with these If you see anything above 2 from the out of the RO/DI, It is usually time to start replacing filters. Now was that confusing or what:D
The only dumb questions IMO are the ones that go un-asked, we are here to help, I surely didn't know squat at one time & I still learn daily:)

Deb,
Here is a picture of my RODI with the in-line TDS meter attached. Thought I would post this in case this is similar to the set up you have.
