how do you feel about plenums?

Plenum, no more
I have had a plenum for 2 years until I pulled it, I didn't notice much of a difference, in comparrison to my tanks I have had with out plenums.
The more I read on the net, and the more I hear about plenums, the more I have begun to question the benefits of them?
I am actually beginning to sway towards a BB for my upcoming tank, with a closed loop, but I am still not sure yet.
