I have been working more with the chemistry in my tank lately since i've been around for the holidays. Normally my kh is around 8, and i've been trying to get it up to 10 or 11. I'm using the two part kit from Bulkreefsupply. If I neglect to add for even a day I lose about 1 kh. I've successfully gotten it up over 10 after a 20 gallon water change (200 system gallons). When I measured the make up water (reef crystals) the kh was out of range of my salifert test kit..

Anyway due to this formula raising ph significantly it requires me to add about 5 times a day. I'm going for a dosing pump this week.

Does everyone have to dose this much? Or will kh even out someday?

Thanks,
Ray

that does seem like alot to drop in a day unless it's a heavily stocked tank...like cali reef said check your mg (this is really important to keep levels in balance)...are you dosing strontium at all? Strontium can cause a lose in alk if they're dosed right after each other or if your strontium is abnormally high...how long are you waiting inbetween adding each part of the two part?

Magnesium is 1170, working on raising it as well.. Haven't tested strontium yet..

So does this continue on until I complete the periodic table.. ;)

Currently i'm adding a little every day, sometimes spreading it over the day. I'd like to set up the doser so it does it at night without killing the ph so hard..
