how do you kill bubble algae

just a note of caution on Emerald Crabs. I picked one up at Barrier Reef during the sale in June. Got him home and a few nights later noticed him ignoring the bubble algae but going to town on my Pocilipora coral. I know they are supposed to be reef safe, but thats not always the case, they will nip at corals, I watched mine doing it for 3 nights in a row before I had me a little episode of Deadliest Catch and caught me some crab!

I have heard Emerald have an afinity for poclipora and have seen them picking at mine...but I never seen any real damage. also seen one scrapping around the large polyps of a scroll coral with its sharp claw and at the time I freaked! but again no damgage to a single polyp. jsut my experince.

This has turned into an emerald crab bashing thread. The poor emerald crab! LOL

I love them. I have had many. Never had a problem with them picking on coral. And I have pictures of this one that would climb up into my bird of paradise colony and would just sit in it and watch TV. I swear thats what it was doing. Every night about 8pm it would climb up, sit down, cross its claws and just stare in the direction of the TV.

OK, I got one! I was sweeping an algae magnet back and forth and when I got about half way down I noticed in my line of sight my about 2 inch emerald crab, hanging on to the rockwork like king kong on a skyscraper by one arm and one leg chasing the magnafloat back and forth. When I stoped he retreated back into the rockwork. Started again, and there he was reaching out to his full extent trying to take on the large magnet. No Fear. just pure attitude!

they do got quite the attitude when i get in the tank for maitenance he trys to pich me everytime. when i feed he climes to the top of the rockwork with his claws fully extended and just waits catches a piecs the runs away. i have seen hin pick on my kenya trees but no damge i thing hes just cleaning the corals.

You know how animals like chasing those lazer lights...LOL...I forgot about this till just now. one of my emeralds chased the flash light. Every time the light would pass over him he would stand on his back legs and reach up as far as he could and snap at it. Almost had him dancing.
