If anyone has a cure for these pesky things let me know. They aren't in epidemic proportions, but they are there & I don't want them to spread.

I know that lowering the nutrients will minimize their spreading, but I want them out completely.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Reed,

Check out this stuff: Joe's Juice

I've been reading good experiences with it, and I believe some of our sponsors carry it.

I've got one that i'm going to feed kalk tonight. I'll let you know how it works.

Don

Thanks Nikki. I'll check that out.

Don, I've tried the old 'feed em kalk' thing and I think they liked it.

you oculd just try to cover it w/ superglue, that works really good for me

Thanks for the tip Tom. I have tried that as well, but those darned things just keep popping out the other side of the rock. The only down side to porous rock I guess.

Joe's Juice works. Have had lot's of those damn things and I finally killed the majority of them with the Juice. Nothing else worked long term.

Word of advice to joes juice users.

I as well as 4 other people on reefs.org have had unexplainable cleaner shrimp deathes just after using the juice.

Granted, joes juice does work and kill our unwanted invaders but if you ahve cleaner shrimp I would think twice.

The mods on reefs.org have talked with joe the owner a few times and wanted to find out the contents of his product because we all should want to know exactly what we are putting into our precious reef tanks.

Joe does not list his ingredients and told our mods that he was a fraid of people stealing his recipe and that when he gets his patent then he will list the ingredients. What is funny is once you apply for a patent you have to list your engredients and when you apply for a patent all your information becomes public anyways.

Just a heads up....

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll see if I can get more information. I'd like to know if the deaths are related.

Joes juice warning part 2

I have been using joes juice ever since My 6-line developed a taste for peppermint!

I have noticed that joes juice will bleach by lue ridge anywhere it comes in contact with it (despite my best efforts). Joes juice seems to not bother any other coral I have even if I have to place it amongst zoo's and others.

I have a BTA who also looks like garbage for a day or two when ever I go after appy's.

However: The juice does a great job on all anenomies... and did a great job of removing the yellow polyps I couldn't get out from amongst my branchin coral.

Sounds like Joe's Juice works well; it would be nice to know the ingredients, though.

I did a complete flush of all the rocks in my nano once because of nasty detritis build-up and nuisance algae. There were also quiet a few majanos.

The rock without corals was out of the water for almost a half hour. I found that the anemones were releasing their hold on the rock and I could just pop them off with my finger.

Good luck with the search and destroy, Reed!

Have you tried using lime juice straight from a fresh lime?

I've injected aiptasia a couple times using it when I didn't have kalk around. Hot boiling water seemed to bring them back after awhile.

Thanks for the heads up folks. I have used the juice for about 1/2 a year now with no noticable problems. I even got one that was in the middle of a pocilapora. I do have 4 or five cleaner shrimp but none has died. Did any of you notice the shrimp that died eating the material????

An aquarium heater. If you can get to the anemone, take a spare heater, put it in the water, and turn it on. Let it heat up a little bit and then fry those suckers with it.
