How do you pronounce things?

Seems more like any of these terms, when I open my mouth it always comes out wrong or maybe right, regardless, I have to try interpet what I was trying to say.:oops:
 
Curt, palythoa...according to Borneman's Book is pronounced: pal'-ee-thoe'-ah
 
I have to be honest here, I mispronounce everything about reefs, not to mention the spelling of these head binding words. I'm going to look for a dictionary online to break down these as the come to me, at the lfs yesterday this guy was talking about Detritus & I was lost as to what he was saying lol but he was right so I go him to pronounce it several times for me & I still can't remember it darn!

LOL, Scott - curt has a couple posted on the first post of this thread.

Detritus.... de-try'-tus or det-ri-tus I pronounce it the first way, but have heard the second way, too.
 
Good ones, Curt - I do pronounce dinoflagellates and cations the way you show them, but the alternative ways I've heard them pronounced: Deeno flagelet & Cashons

The Deeno issue is probably my fault for a lot of people because I would tell people who to get rid of Dino's for short.

Even my science teacher said Cations wrong.....go figure.
