How does your family feel about your saltwater aquarium hobby?

My wife likes it sometimes, but my son is truly fascinated by it all the time. I think it will become quite an educational tool for him. One of his first 5 words out of his mouth was "ish" which I translated to "fish", especially since he was pointing at an "ish".

LOL - my 2 1/2 year old is fascinated by aquariums. My other half thinks I'm a nut half the time, but enjoys looking at the tank and working on projects that I send his way. I guess there could be worse things I spend money on....like designer shoes. (hmmm.....maybe there is something wrong with me?) Both of my siblings enjoy saltwater tanks as well - I guess it runs in the family.

My wife tolerates my hobby but she is very supportive and will go to the LFS with me on occassion.

My cat (Caspian) thinks my hobby is AWESOME!!!

My dogs could care less.

(However, there a lot of children of friends who periodically beg to come over to see Nemo and my other fish. I lost a pistol shrimp a while back and that really bummed out one child. Another time an 8 year old corrected his mom when she said that my green star polyps were pretty "plants". It was quite funny).

My little boy really think its a cool hobby and my wife thinks its a great hobby. Except when i have some overflows in the carpet.....you know how that is..hehehehehe =)

Yeah, over the years I kinda had to beat the wife into submission- not literally of course. Garret, my 4 year old son loves it. He names all the fish and goes with me to the LFS all the time.

My wife and kids know that I love this hobby. My wife has watched me spend lots of money and then learn a mistake can happen. My kids love showing off to other kids. Soccer team kids love it. I get to puff up my chest and say...Yeah, it was hard to do that..laughing...but I am special...Special Ed that is...gotcha

Actually, I am the "family".

My husband is the one who started the saltwater frenzy in our house and it's all I can do to keep things from getting too crazy sometimes. He keeps looking at the 140 and saying, "We could fit another 2 feet of tank in that spot."

The dogs pretty much ignore the tank, the cat occasionally watches the fish and the ferrets love to crawl into the cabinet whenever they get the chance.

the wife has said on many occations, He (me) could be out at bars spending money on booze and floozies. He is home and i know what hes doing, and we have something beautiful to show for it.

my son doesnt really seem to care oneway or another, i get something new and he'll look and go hmm, nice. but at other times we have indepth discussions about ecology and such so it has affected him. my daughter...well lets just say she loves the tank to look at, but hates it because she would rather have the money spent on her...LOL

My dog hates it when I go downstairs, cuz he knows I 'll be dinking around with the tank and not playing fetch with him. Of course I get to do most of the fetching..........

my husband tolerates my hobby!! He does enjoy looking at the tank and does buy me stuff sometimes!

The kids think it is cool, my daughter likes to name shrimp and fish.

When friends come over they are always amazed by the tank. Makes me feel great!
