Well our entire family is addicted.... Of course Shilo, age 9 is on her second tank. The 12 gallon eclipse Santa bought two years ago just did not cut it so she bought her 29 gallon with her birthday money. She has her own PSAS card, and she saves money she earns to buy more "stuff." She also tops off my two tanks and hers every morning before school and feeds all three tanks.

The eleven yr old brother is not as interested, BUT loves to test the water! How lucky can I get?

In fact as I type Shilo is going through a mail order catelog checking prices to see what she likes and can spend her soon to come birthday money... lol... She was a little alarmed to see the word sexy in the catelog and was thinking it shouldn't be allowed. You know, the sexy pistol shrimp.... lol

Great thread everyone!

Thank god my wife likes clothes, shoes, and plants because when she complains about what I spend on the tank I have some ammunition. She does enjoy looking at the tank. She enjoys the education the grandkids get from it by watching it constantly. My son's just as addicted as me and has been since he was 2 or three. He even went to college, studied fish biology and now works as a fish biologist. Look at what I've done. I've created a monster of my chidren and grand children. Now they're addicted too.

I started dating a new woman last year, and was afraid of bringing her back to my one bedroom apartment with 5 tanks going. I gulped hard, explained that I was a biologist, and that I used to live in a much larger place. See, it was only natural to have all this, and with the windows open it didn't stink too much ("smells like the ocean"). Well, it is over a year later and she now has her own predator tank (lionfish, spiny boxfish, huge hermit crab) and a freshwater holding tank for live food. See, we are not crazy afterall. Well, maybe she is, she absolutely loves her hermit crab.

I'm lucky in that all my family is very supportive of me and my 2 tanks. My significant other is a horse trainer so he's gone most weekends to horse shows, futurities, etc. He sees FedEx roll up and he always says your buddy's here. My sister loves to learn about the new things I get as when she and her hubby come over she tells him everything I told her earlier. My Mother loves to watch the fish and I catch her looking at things in the tanks and asking what something is if she doesn't know.

Hey SueT, long time admirer of your tanks. Any plans on updating all your pics????

Wow, Thanks, Yellotang, actually there is. My 120g that has been a FOWLR for the past year or so has been transformed back into another sps tank. When I get most of the frags I'm looking for in, I have already lined someone up to take some shots. Then the old website will also be updated.

So I guess I'll end up running both again as sps tanks. Am I crazy or what??????

Yeah your nuts welcome to the group!

Great thread here.
My family loves the tank.
My nieces and nephew have more questions for me each day.
They watch the tank more then the TV some days.
The last girlfriend wasn’t as enthused but hey like Wit said I could be spending it on worse things.
My friends all know I’m a reef psycho and laugh about it.
When they see the tank they all love it and congratulate me on a beautiful reef.
Makes me feel 10 feet tall

In my opinion...

sharks wrote "They watch the tank more then the TV some days."

It seems to me the tank can be quite a bit more educational than the average television show.

I am so blessed to have found out about this hobby, and to have wonderful friends who share my passion.

Thank you everyone!

I'm still new here, but I wanted to let you know how impressed I am at the quality of your comments on this thread. I strolled into Reef Frontiers not knowing exactly what to expect. So far everyone has been nice and extremely helpful. Thanks for making this thread so interesting, and making RF the place that it is. Neil
