how long should i leave the table shrimp in for???

just wondering how long i should leave the raw table shrimp in for that i put in my qt tank???

its a 29 gallon and so far all thats up is the ammonia and no sign of trites or trates i took out the shrimp after about 3 days should i of left it in for longer???

if the ammonia looks high enough, then you will have nitrite levels that are noticeable after 48 hours. Nitrates typically take much longer to build.
