How many time do shrimps live????

morning everyone, I wake up this morning and find out that my 3 year old cleaner shrimp was dead:( !!
the question is why.... cause I check my water parameters and they are normal.. or maybe he died for old. I hope that some of you guys that had already experienced something simmilar can tell me why????

Sorry to hear about your shrimp.:doubt: Could have possibly been old age as well as he could have "molted" if the parameters are all in check. Are you sure it was actually him and not his shedded skin???

I've never seen info on this, but my Coral Banded shrimp died at about 3 years and he was big when I got him. I think most large shrimp live 3-5 years??

thanks for your replies, I will buy another one today but I'm afraid that if he is too small my camel shrimp may hunt him down!!!!

i agree, he could have died of old age..... there's no way to know unless you had him since he was a little baby :( .
sorry to hear about your loss dood

I have a spanish final exam on thursday. Although, I think your english is still much better than my spanish. :doubt:

Sorry to hear about your cleaner shrimp. :(

sorry to hear that..

i had 2 peppermints (1 died) (sorry to say) but i was happy.

the other one is still there, hes about 8months old. he has molted probly 5 times or more. I really wish i could catch him, Im about to make a trap and trap him and ship him off.

i thought the arrow crab was bad, thes shrimp are fast agresive and wont let other people in the tank eat.

are they really causing problems:confused: . I have like 8 of them in my tank and they are just fine.... by the way, you should be careful with the arrow cause if he finds a sleeping fish he will probably eat it:eek:

its very hard to feed the tank, (clean up crew)

not that i feed them but the extras dont have a chance to get to the other inhabs cause the shrimp is so fast and agresive

This is how you find your balance on how much cleanup crew is needed for a tank. If there isn't enough available food in the tank for some, then they are not needed IMO. The last thing anyone really wants to do is feed their clean up crew food as they won't perform their duties and won't be really serving a purpose (unless you buy 100 turbo snails just because you love snails and not to help keep the tank clean:p ) :)
