How often do you feed your corals??

So...How often do you feed your corals? If you like, you can list what types of corals you have and what you feed them

I had mostly local corals (gorgonians) a ricordia etc and fed them coral frenzy about 3 times a week. Other than that, they ate whatever waste/detritus was floating in the water column.

We almost never feed or target feed our corals. We let the tank take care of it for us. Once in a great while we will hand feed the duncans and the sun coral some mysis shrimp but other than that they all seem to fend for themselves rather well. We have considered oyster feast or other additives but really don't want to add the extra nutrients if it's not necessary.

I use to target feed my anemone in my very first tank (90 gal) with "pilchards". That was done about once a week.

I've pretty much have let the corals fend for themselves as well for past 20+ years and like Eric ^above^ will occasionally feed the Duncans, Lobo and Trachy's I used to have. I have turned off my return pump to feed for years and it doesn't take long for corals to figure out that food is on its way when this happens, My Caulastrea (Candycanes) and Trachy's in the past would go to feed mode within a few minutes and become very adept at catching Mysis Shrimp flowing past (leave my PH's on during feeding). Magician Paly's are also quite fond of Mysis.

I voted other. Much like the two posts above. I broadcast feed the tank twice a day more often than not and most of my LPS quickly extend and catch plenty of food daily. Occasionally I'll target feed an acan or lobo to help fluff it up and keep it healthy if its not looking as good as it should. Honestly, because of the way I feed, I feel like my corals get fed every day.

The corals make all the difference. Some need to be target fed and others can get by on good old lighting and free floating detritus in the water column. I guess it is something to consider when getting into keeping a reef tank (how much work you want to do). Besides tank maintenance, feeding fish, dosing additives if needed and testing your water, there is coral feeding you may have to add into the mix.

i try to feed corals by spot feeding with turkey baster once a week,,,,,, sence were on the topic----- i have been trying to find out where to get a feeding baster like nwdiver has..... he had them made by a guy on the forums which is no longer around..... its the best thing i have ever seen used. it is about 30" long 3/8 dia. but the awesome thing is the end is squished down so you can feed 1 mysis shrimp at a time and you can have about 3 lined up in the squished part- NO WASTE EVER....... its a sweet tool.... we can blow the glass at the chemistry lab at wwu but we are having hard time finding the little pipette bulbs.......please help.....and sorry for being a little off topic but i think every reefer would should have this tool to keep waste down

My tank is a completely MIXED bag of coral from softies to LSP, SPS and a growing population of Anemone (1 became 2 became 3 and just recently split to become 4). I don't "directly" feed anything but when I make my "Custom Food Mix" I always add various size and type of ingredients that contribute to the coral feeding wagon. I mix all my foods into one "mash" and then freeze it in large flat bags. Every couple of weeks I break off a chunk of food concentrate and thaw in RO/DI water. Then I use a baster and put one "Serving" into the bottom of an ice cube tray then go back and fill each compartment up with RO/DI. I make a full tray at a time and this last me approximately 1 month. Every couple of days I drop an ice cube or two into the tank (I hit FEED MODE on my ProfiLux which turns off the skimmer and return pumps) and watch the fish AND the coral go to town feeding.

I usually feed 2X a week. 5-10 ml per feeding using a mix of Brightwell zooplankton med and small varieties. No fish in my system yet so we will see how that works out by the end of the year when I should be fully stocked.

My sun coral gets cranky when it doesn't get fed at least a couple times a week. Everything else just gets a 'treat' every now and then.
