Something wrong with your caps lock? :)

I use a CPR overflow and haven't had flood, but I have it setup to have my return pump run dry before the display overflows. I've switched the siphon starting hose to my skimmer pump instead of the return. I've tested it after a water change yesterday and it restarted the siphon fine. The return pump was struggling with that sometimes.

Have you tried the Aqualifter yet? Just curious.

Yes, I originally used an aqualifter to start the siphon. It failed on me after about a year. Then Mike (herefishyfishy) informed me that I could rig it up to my return pump and that way I wouldn't need a pump solely for starting the siphon.

If you use the U tube overflow and have it adjusted properly, it will not lose siphon.

I have used a hang on overflow for a few years now and have had no problems.

Hey everyone...thanks for all the input...I got myself a hob over-flow along with about a 30 gallon acrilic sump/refugium....for a return pump i will be using a iwaki pump rated at 960 gallons per hr...now its just a matter of plumbing from my overflow to my sump and figuring out the plumbing on my returns...looks like i got some work to do...!!...Btw....went to Barrier reef on saturday...Wow..We loved it...next buy will be the Octipus Skimmer....after i get plumbed...Thanks ..Shane

Shane and John,
Glad to hear you made it to Barrier Reef, great store and worth the drive. Hopefully you got to talk to Mark about skimmers, he'll give you good advise.

Krisfal..Hey guys...we loved the store..Thanks so much for the recomendation...Unfortunatly Mark was not working at the time ..However...I did find a skimmer i want,Just not sure of how it would work with my new sump...its 30 gallons so the Footprint of the skimmer will pretty much fill it up,Killing my idea of having a small refugium as well..got most of my return parts today as well..Just not sure of what size of tubing i will use for the return yet....Btw...thanks for the frags...The are doing very well in Johns tank...Kenya popped right up and the mushrooms, while still not attached to the rocks are looking great...You guys are Awesome!!!!!
