i have a 55gal been running for 9 months i decided to pull the sand out in 3 differnt water changes.....about 1 month ago.....i have recently redid my rock work with putting a bunch of new dead tonga branch......i have a cyno.....the red stringy algae that comes from new tank symptoms......any idea how i got the bad bloom?.....how to get rid of it? i have not been turning mh on its helps.....corals are being covered with it (so bad i can't keep up with the turkey baster........please help before i looooose corals

Adding in the new tonga probably caused the cycle as you probably experienced some die-off. If you are experiencing cyno then increased flow to those areas may be needed. With that said, it is normal for you to have some sort of algae bloom with all the changes that took place. You will have to give it time to balance out once again. JMHO :)

Yea thanks that is what I was thinking just wanted a second opinion .....alot ofwork keeping it off the corals lol no deaths yet.......if my zoa r not opening are they still feeding? Will water changes help the process

Water changes, increased flow, carbon, skimming, Phosban, time. You can incorporate siphoning into the water changes. You can use a siphoning hose, with a smaller nozzle to slow down the flow. Then you just suck the cyno off the zoanthid polyps. That way, it does not blow around the tank. As long as the siphon is not too strong and the zoanthids are secure to the rock, it works extremely well. If you have it on your sandbed, a sand shifter helps too (like a diamond goby).
