How do I take image from my pictures to post on reef frontiers. I got the sony to make small pictures (memory wise). Can anyone help me out here. I am computer illterate, and I can't even spell it right. Ha ha. Steve
Steve - I'm not the best at this computer/camera stuff....but I'll give it a shot. You should have a program that came with the camera? It should allow you to download the pictures from your camera onto your computer. From there it is a matter of converting it into a format like .jpg, getting it to the correct size, then uploading to the post.
Here is a Windows XP PowerToy that will allow you to right click on a picture and resize it WindowsXP PowerToy
Here is another program to check out for Windows IrfanView
Ok Nikki I am dense as a brick on this stuff, The smallest I can make a file is 141kb thats using vga feature with standard file size on sony cybershot 5.1. I can't make any smaller files with the camera. I went to Ifran downloaded it and still can't figure it out. I think I may be half stupid on this subject. How do you compress files to a smaller size. I see other peoples stuff. Do you just take a big picture and cut out the piece you want and hope its under 100kb or do you use compression. If you use compression how do I do it. Please help me if you can. Steve. (I am just dumb when it comes to how this stuff works.) Thanks alot. Steve
Alright, So you take a photo, you can use maximum file size and fine detail. Save said photo to your computer. Go to irfanview program, pull up photo, go to resize, drop to under 500 width, and length will resize itself, check that it says 72dpi, save under jpeg format, come back to reef front. and upload from adavanced reply. And it works. Thanks everybody. Steve
Steve, to confuse matters more - You can also upload them to your photo gallery. Then when you want to post them you use the tags. All you do is right click on the picture in your gallery, go to properties (I believe that is what a PC says), then open image in new window. The url (http thingy) address is what you want to copy. Go to add reply and either type (remove the "*") [*img]paste url here[*/img] or click on the IMG button and paste the url in the space.
By doing this, you will have actual sized pictures in your post instead of thumbnails, and you can have multiple images (although with this new software you can have multiple thumbnails).
I'm not the best at describing this stuff, but it is something you can play around with. :)
