Hi all, is there a way to tell if a HQI bulb has a starter built in it? The ballist I have are built into a box with fans so i can't look at the balest to tell and i want to switch from 20000k bulbs to either 10000k or 14000k bulbs, the system is built buy odessey or Jebo, By the way, I'm really impressed by this light for the price that I payed for it.

Thanks Ed

Ed - Welcome to Reef Frontiers!!!

Here's a bump for you....I'm not familiar with HQI bulbs

not sure what you mean here bulb have a started built in. The ballasts start the bulb. If you want to switch K ratings there should not be any problems at all just change the bulb. If this is truely a Double ended bulb(HQI). Now if it a SE(single ended) then there would be a starter in the ballast nad the only way to know would be to contact Jebo or research on the net, HTH
