In summary I would call all our results while using these products to be inconclusive.

Yep... that's the problem if you don't have a 'control' and one variable that you are changing and then measuring all the parameters regularly that you are interested in. And even then... it could be something else that you are not measuring!

What kind of LED lights did you get???? I'm so curious about these.

brad picked out a pair of the black python 160w modules from the barrier pacific sun led group buy. when dolphinlvr brought his light down to barrier to show us all the different features of the light + how powerful it was we were sold! he posted a blog w/ a little bit more info here: http://mb50g.blogspot.com/2010/04/ordered-pacific-sun-black-python-160w.html brad could probably tell you more about 'em since he's the more technical one out of the two of us. cheers!

Merc and Brad - I am looking forward to seeing those LED's over your tank! Take lots of pics ;) Don't forget that when you get the LED's installed to run them at about 50% power to acclimate your corals otherwise they will get bleached.

Hey where did you get that temp sensor?

The temp sensor is part of the Digital Aquatics Reef Keeper Lite aquarium controller. Base model can be picked up at most online saltwater retailers for $99.00 these days. Base model comes with 4 controllable outputs and a temperature probe.

we just moved and everything in our holding tanks are dead! now i know why everybody sells off their stuff if they're moving. so sad! :(

thanks for the support everybody! we got our tank up and running. cycled for a couple weeks. picked up a few critters + starter lps @ bra's annual sale...

then everything died during the move then got started again, then our LED ballast went out, then had some issues w/ our ro/di setup which killed everything again and had to start all over... ok so here's an update on our tank:
