hqi- what se bulb?

Hey guys, just a question here. What SE 250W bulbs have you run long term on a magnetic 250w hqi ballast - M80? I know that you can run radiums no problem, and they actually look a hell of a lot better on such a ballast. I heard from a guy at sunlight supply that the hqi ballast will "make the smoke come right out of ushio's pretty quick." I thought that was interesting, but have seen plenty of spectral and par tests where ushio's have been run on the m80 ballast. So right now I have a set of radiums that I am going to run for the time being. The color is not really for me so they will be short term until I can decide what lights to get. I am considering the coralvue reflux, but need to see them in person.

Hi Tom I have PFO HQI ballast & I don't know if they are the same as a M80 ballast but i can tell you i have ran a ushio 10 K in mine with no problems I ran it about 4 months and have given it to Ed Hahn to try out in his tank I am a pesonal fan of the 20K radiums, I have switched to Xm bulbs in 15K and 20 K and haven't had any trouble but with all the negeative reactions i have read about them I think iam going Back to the 20K radiums on my next replacements Hope this helps some what...Jeff

Yep, that 250 SE Ushio on my PFO 250 watt HQI ballast has ran pretty good so far. Don't jinks me now..lol. Its doing good, thanks Jeff.
