Not too long ago my friend and I added a peppermint shrimp to his 30 gallon Semi-Reef to help with his outa-control Aiptasia Promblem. For the first week or so the shrimp was only eating what we fed the fish. A little after a 2 weeks he got ballsy and devoured one of the Aiptasia that was bigger than him. Cool we thought...not too long before he works on the rest of the abnormally large aiptasia. Well just the other night he called me up and requested that I come over a.s.a.p. Well I was half asleep and didnt really feel up to it. He had told me that his peppermint shrimp was being devoured by one of the Aiptasia. I couldn't beleive it!!! I have never heard of that before. I was laughing half alseep and told him to take some pics with his Digi and as soon as he comes back from camping this weekend I'll post some photos. Just wanted to know what you guys thought.

It reminded me of a national geographic program I watched when a pack of hyenas finally got the best of a female lion by brutally attacking her and eventually killing her! It was a once in a lifetime thing though,, caught on camera and the next scene shows the male taking on the whole pack an in revenge, killed the matriarch! This was a case of lion vs hyenas in your tank (LOL) You got it right with the title, Hunter Being the Hunted"

EEEEK! that sounds very interesting! Totally want to see the pictures! The pep shrimp must have been full and lethargic from eating the anenome's brother ;)

Are you sure the shrimp didnt just die and he fed it to the anamone? Bummer dude. That is a huge one. I agree with Big T....Melt him with 5 ml of the kalk

Not that this happened to you, but I've heard of breeding Clownfish feeding shrimp to anemones before when the shrimp tried to eat the eggs.

Snaw he did'nt die before, I asked him that, and for the clownfish thing that is pretty funny, I'm not sure if thats the case. I have'nt noticed any eggs around. Hopefully this next week I'll gather a syringe and grab some kalk and start going to town on these guys.

Hey whats up, Found myself a syringe from the Local Druggie and filled it with 5ml of calcium and shot up 2 of my own aiptasia's. They didn't seem to like it at all and I can barely see them now. Before trying to treat any other tank Imma find out if it will work. I actually got the syringe from the local Feed Supply for farm animals for about $1.25 and I heard calcium works just as good, and I had some laying around.....so yea.
I'll let you know the situation in a couple day's on what happened.
