I have a 32 gallon tank thats about 7 months old and about 1 month after its cycle, I got cyano. Since then I bought a maxi-jet 1200 to increase the flow. Ive tested the water for phosphate. Its at 0.3. And Ive stopped feeding frozen brine shrimp, like the cubes. Im going to change to mysis shrimp. I hope it helps a bit. Every week I use a turkey baster and catch it with a net. I just purchased a H.O.T magnum pro system so I won't have to catch it with a net. But it just keeps coming. Its a little less then before I bought the maxi jet. But this stuff is indestructable . And to top it all off I have hair algae thats also a nuissance. Does anybody else have other suggestions?

Do you have a skimmer on the aquarium

Both of those foods have high phosphates though.

Yes I do and it works great

If you have cyano and hair algae you have to much food for them. Cut back on your feeding of the fish. You might cut back on your light cycle.

What kind of lighting do you have? How old are the bulbs?

Bummer...Sometimes the algae cycles last a lot longer than we would like them to. I actually left the hobby and went back to freshwater about 2 years ago out of frustration, but came back and have been pretty successful. Something is fueling the algae to grow...Have you added anymore bioload into the tank lately? I know for me, I had to stop on introducing things into the tank until the tank found it's balance with the current bioload. If you keep adding in fish etc, then your tank will have to adjust to the new load everytime. Also, are you using any sponges etc in there that are left un-cleaned for more than a few days each time? If so, that can cause issues as well...Just a few thoughts.

I have T5 lighting and they are only 2-3 months old. I only added more rocks but it seems to be the ones I had before that have it the most.

Do you rinse the food in RO fiorst or just thaw it in tank water. If you rinse it in a strainer first that will help with PO4 a little bit.

do you have a cleaner crew, many inverts like to chow down on that stuff. also check ur salinity make sure it isn't too low
