i had a guy sending me a ton of corals from La.. i gave the guy a bunch of stuff when i left and i asked him if he would send me a frag of everything.. he ended up just sending me all of the colonies back!! he didn't want to keep sps corals.. i just checked my tracking number and it said the package was being held in Memphis.. i called and they told me that the package was damaged and they weren't delivering it today!!!! they don't know if it will be delivered.. this is several hundred $$$$$$ in corals..... i will NEVER ship with this sorry company again!!!!!!!!! oh yeah, i owe they guy for shipping on the corals!!!!
 
I hope it was insured!
FedX as the rest all have issues, I've had problems with all of them!
 
My buddy is a manager at UPS. He works the night shift.....all I know is they refer to UPS as United Punch and Smash. I wont even go into details on what happens to packages marked "Fragile"

Each company is going to have its problems, but in this case.....man that sucks.
 
he just got a call from Fedex.. they told him the box is empty:confused::confused::confused::confused:..they said to go ahead and file a claim... i don't understand how the box could be empty...... also, i just got a job at UPS, so i will be able to see what goes on there!!
 
all those companies kick your package around it don't matter whats in it. Just get that stuff insured. There is no way around it they don't care how your package arrive because they already have your money. Then when you try to make a claim they make you jump through hoops. I hate shipping companies all of them.
 
Study all the FedEx rules before filing your claim to prevent them dismissing it on a technicality They have very specific rules on what is insured and not. Make sure the corals are valued due to rarity in lieu of being "live".

They will pay you for losing or breaking a valuable rare bird skeleton, but not for having killed the bird.
 
ups may not be great, but it's much better to be a receiver of a ups package, than a fedex one, if for only one thing...real, actual tracking.

If you do next day:
UPS.com tells you when it left, at the time it left. When it is at a transfer station, right after it got there. You can figure out within a few hours of when it's going to be at your house, and if there is/was a problem, you know as soon as they do.

Fedex.com tells you the package shipped, it went to this transfer station, and then that transfer station, and it got delivered to you, and you find out all this info well after you've signed for it, when you don't need it anymore. Just like USPS's supposed tracking.
 
The only way to be sure is airport to airport as airfreight. I have had excellent luck with this for decades. Delta freight, etc. Extra hassle driving to the airport, but the box is handled a lot less and won't get lost somewhere.
 
Ditto on the Airport to Airport airfreight. A previous company I worked for needed things immediately from Oregon, etc. Cant beat having it in 3 to 4 hours.
 
I just shipped a package via USPS with an item I sold on ebay in it that took 3 weeks to get from Idaho to California (a 15 hour drive). Talk about mad buyer, I had to do some serious consoling to not get bad feedback from it.
I don't think we should ship anything anymore, I have had equally frustrating problems with FedEx and UPS. How about everybody just meet in the middle somewhere and do a great big frag swap.:)
 
A tip for UPS: Insure the package for 1000 dollars. You wont get any of the insurance in the event of a problem, but all packages $1000 and over are specially tracked internally, and are kept in a seperate, safer area of the truck. Drivers are personally liable for packages $1000+, so they dont get lost, or damaged ever. This comes from personal experience as I have shipped a lot of packages that way.
