so I am trying to order plumbing supplies. Would you guys suggest a true "y" or a tee for the drain side. I am talking about where the two drains would merge into one. I have access to a true y but was wondering if I should just go to a "t"

If you use a "T" you will just end up with a battleground from both sides pushing against it if you use the "Y" I will give you the flow will merge. It's true if you just go with 2 seperate drains

Ok but right now I have a hole drilled into the wall for a single 1 1/2" drain. So it would be better to have the two separate drains. Also I have a new problem. I think my bottom sump is leaking. Just one thing after another.

So guys looks like my plumbing will not be here until Monday so have to reschedule. I know that it is hectic right now with the holidays but if there is anyone available for next week would love to take care of this problem.

Hey Floyd, which day next week is best for you? I can probably get away from my tiling for a day to help out. Maybe even the 'Other Todd / Camera Todd / Great White North Todd' will be out of school on break to help as well.

Cheers, Todd

I'm in Floyd, let me know which day. I may be able to bring my mostly tame "real life plumber" friend along if the day works out for him.

Well you guys tell me when would be a good day or time for you. If it needs to be during the week I can make sure to have the time off. I am expecting the plumbing parts on monday or tuesday. Did not really order anything special, but found a place online that is cheaper than homedepot even with shipping.

Trying to figure how I am going to run the 2 drainlines through the wall and not have a horrible mess. I was thinking of maybe a white blank off and run the PVC through that into the wall so that it looks somewhat decent.

that will look good you are going to try and fit both 1" drains through the 1 1/2" hole you have there already?

No I am thinking that I am going to have to cut out a small 8 inch square and put a plate over it and run the pipes through that.

why not use this and just use the double gang one that way you can just cut out a plate then mount

and when you move you can just put a blank off plate on it

Yep, I like Titan's idea.
There are some plastic grommets made to go through drywall, but I don't know if they go that big. I'll ask the plumber.
I think they are more typically used for copper.
Plumber says that you can use a wye to 1.5", but doing two drains would be much safer.
I don't remember what your drop is, but I'm worried that that might be part of the problem...

Then your other post is a double win! The larger panel will allow him to drop the new plumbing down a bit and still incorperate the original hole.

You guys are all talking crazy plumbish gibberish. I will buy what ever I need. The only thing that I think is that I have not tried the two drains and if it sounds like it will be better that is the way I should go.

I'm thinking of heading out of my place 11 or noon. I need to verify that Richard can go.
Jeremy offered to ride along as well :)
