I think this counts as "marine".. lol. Photos from my recent whale watching trip...
I figure some here might appreciate seeing these...
My hubby got me a trip to go whale watching for our anniversary(although he didn't go because he's scare of being on boats and gets sea sick. lol) a couple weeks ago... It was a blast, despite the rainy and cold weather. I tell ya, I now have a better appreciation of what those crab fisherman do up north. LOL. If I was as freezing and I was just being here in the sound on a normal bad weather day, I can't even IMAGINE how horrible it us in sub zero temps. lol.
Anyhow, after a few hours, we finally came across feeding 2 Grey Whales, which were the first of the season apparently. According to the on-board whale researchers, one was "Patch", a regular to our area, while the second one was new. And I found out some things I didn't know about Grey Whales. Like for instance, they don't feed like normal baleen whales, who normally sieve krill and whatnot from the open water or the water's surface... Grey Whales go to the ocean floor, and with a sucking motion, vacuum shrimp and other things straight from the ground. Which apparently gives them horrible breath. lol.
So on to some pics.. Nothing too fancy, since they were just feeding, coming to the surface for air, then going back down again...
(this is the best one in the series I think)
