I'm battling Ich and I'm moving my single fish from that tank into a Hospital tank to do Hyposalinity treatment.

My question is... if I do a rinse/dip in fresh saltwater with my liverock can i put the rock in another tank without transfering Ich to the other tank?

To be 100% sure you kill all of the Ich, you'd have to make sure the entire rock is dead. However, once dead, as long as there's enough healthy live rock, in the other tank, you should be able to add it, yes.

I would recommend a good soak, over night, in freshwater, to be sure you've killed all of the Ich. I still don't know if this would kill the eggs, if there happened to be any on the rock.

Most of the rocks in question have soft corals on them. does that change anything?

If you are moving the single fish to a q-tank, I'd leave the rock in the tank, as it is fishless for 6 weeks. No lost corals, no dead rock

how many fish do you have in the tank if you have more then one fish they all need to go to the qt tank. +1 for mfinn

Only one fish. The only problem with keeping the rock in the current tank is I want to put the rock in my other tank and sell this tank without waiting 6 weeks:mad:

Go ahead and move the rock, but be prepared to leave it fishless.
IMO it doesn't make sense to kill the rock and corals.

Yes, this changes things drastically. Anything you do, to treat the rock, will kill the corals. If you move the rock to another tank, you take a chance of infesting that tank. So, you'll need to keep the rock away from any fish, for a 6-8 week period. Without fish to host, the Ich parasite will die, in 6-8 weeks.

i bought a naso tank and and the trip back to my house he got stressed out and got ick. i put the fish right in my 180 reef and lef nature take its corse. now he lived and the ick died off about a week later. i had about 10-13 fish in there when this all was going on and none of them got sick. this is not the way i should have did this i know but as long as your fish is eating he should be able to fight off the infection. everything i have read about ick is it only lives off fish. not corals so if your going to treat it i would out side of your tank. dont add any new fish to your tank. this is my experiance many others would disagree with how i did with my fish but he is eating and has no sign's of ever haveing ick.

and after a few weeks you should be able to add fish again but start with easy ones so they have a better chance to not get stressed and not get sick.
