here is a good article for FW dips....along with matching the temp, you must also match the ph very closely....i am not sure that a FW dip is what you need, but here is the article

Our nitrates are down to 10!!!!! Water changes are helping. I was told to put our bangai cardinal in fresh water (same temp) for no longer than 5 minutes; that the fresh water would kill the infection - not recommended for all fish; but bangai's apparently do well this this treatment.

I've never heard of this........ has anyone else?

Keep up the water changes and nix the FW dip idea. As long as the problem is abating, do nothing else except maintain high water quality, good chemistry and fortified vitamin/HUFA feedings. The fish can take care of the rest.

With a persistent case, treat with a good gram negative antibiotic in a proper QT.
