Ich?

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

Thank you all for the info. I'm gonna get another tank, and set it up Wednesday. Funny thing I came home after work today and the fish had 50% less spots on them then they did yesterday, so I'm assuming I cought it early. The Blue tang that had the most spots now just looks like small ash smears on his skin and there are fewer of them. I'll keep you posted, thanks.

less spot = more ich wating to hatch. the next wave could be larger. all my fish get qt now, my brother even gave me Ich, he said his fish were clean. Good Luck, hope it turns out well.

You can take the hyposalinity further --- down to 1.010 if you prefer. I usually wait to see how the fish react to the change. If all is well in a week take it down.

Watch for slimming of the gills, usually close to the end here for the fish. The spots on the fish are the latter stage of the cycle when many free swimmers are active in the water.

If the second tank will not cycle -- put the fish back into the main tank until it does --- Ammonia and Nitrite poisoning --- kills quick, not a good way to go.

if you do decide to do the hypo treatment make sure you bring it down slowly like over the course of a few days-week and once you get it there make sure you maintain it at the desired level

Lot of false information going around. This thread moderated my Lee Birch who is brilliant, has many stickys at the top.
They explain the Hypo process, myths about Marine Ich, treatment methods, an the like. I recommend all read them MANY TIMES.

It's a trying process. Sometimes you may need to do it over again. Lessons learned.

Yeah. What Mike said. :)

Hope you got the tank set today. I have an air pump if you didn't pick one up.
