We got this frag for its' color but we're still not sure what it is. The guy we got it from said it was a "phonograph record coral" but it doesn't look like what we find when we search that. Any ideas would be appreciated. The date on the camera is wrong, this is what it looks like today not what it will look like in March. Thanks, Jeff and Christie

Possibly pavona. Take a look at this and let us know if it looks anything like it.

Thanks for responding - we've searched the pavona coral, also. I agree that the texture sure looks similar, but ours grows in a different way. From what we have searched, the pavona grows up, and this seems to plate. Maybe we need to give it more time...It is pink, and the new growth seems to be green.

Pavona ???

Hey Jeff & Christie,

Do you have any updated pics and are you/have you fragged it? :D

Looks like Pavona...however in order to make a thorough diagnosis I'll have to get a frag of it and study it for quite some time in my tank...;)

Great looking piece!

Well I am going to have to say that my masters degree in "notknowingathingology" would definately make me a more qualified candidate for the proper diagnosis through long term studies.
