I found this guy nestled in my chalice colony ?

he was burrowed into the skeleton part and there
was some tissue damage around the entrance of his hole

some sort of mantis or pistol ? his one claw is way bigger
than the other

That's definitely a Pistol Shrimp.

do you think that the flesh on the chalice was damaged just from him
banging on the skeleton?

to make a "burrow"?

Doubtful. They make their burrows by burrowing in the sand bed. I have had them pull frags into their homes, bury frags in sand etc. I even had one build it's burrow underneath a Chalice colony. However, I've never seen one try to "dig" through a colony....

It's highly possible that it buried a portion of the chalice though.

this is the spot i am talking about . Its up on some rocks and out of the sand
the white part is obvious and the hole he was in is at about 10 or 11 oclock from the white spot?
